Primary victims can receive up to $60,000 to cover various things including medical expenses, counselling, and loss of earnings resulting from the act of violence. Secondary and related victims can receive up to $50,000 to cover medical and counselling expenses, and some loss of earnings, arising as a direct result of witnessing the act of violence or of being a relative of a primary victim.
